Spring 2016 was filled with new delegates, new projects, and fresh ideas!
We're really hoping that you enjoyed our inventive Ice Breakers. From making paper planes and practicing your aiming skills to speed "dating" for Valentines Day, we hope that you were motivated to learn more about your fellow members!
Each meeting was very informational and included advice from local dentists and updates about our upcoming events.
Still not entertained?
...Hopefully the fresh, free pizza made the meetings worth it!!!
Service
UF's Pre-Dental Society believes that the most valuable asset to give is time. We embody this by dedicating excessive amounts of time to planning new projects and events that will benefit the Gainesville community. Many of our service events help Gainesville by contributing some serious man power to local non-profit organizations and programs, such as St. Francis House, Ronald McDonald House, Alachua County Humane Society, and Noah's Endeavor. We love to give back to those who are toddlers to grandparents and even animals!
Our enthusiasm for service and volunteering has led us to create two orignal service projects of our own: Wisdom Tooth and Brighter Lipstick, Bigger Earrings branch (An Extension of Pam Sawyer's own project). With Wisdom Tooth, our members go to Nursing Homes to teach Oral Hygiene and play a unique game of Dental Bingo to test their knowledge. Brighter Lipstick, Bigger Earrings is great for members to exercise their manual dexterity skills and make earrings for oncology patients at medical centers around Gainesville. This semester, we are happy to say we have made over a total of 1,600 earrings!!! We're so thankful for Pam Sawyer for spreading her jewlery as well as her genorosity!
Socials & Fundraising
Pre-Dental Society also likes to have fun! When we're not volunteering (or studying), we like to decompress by socializing with each other and bond through our mutual pain. Some of our events even incorporates fine motor skills such as our painting socials.
Pre-Dental Society functions due to the effective fundraising events held through out the semester! In addition to our restaurant fundraisers, we are excited to offer head shots and car washes for members and non-members.
